“Inti vaipu” (Homeward bound) is the fifth volume of poetry by Afsar, a celebrated poet and professor from the South Indian language of Telugu. Afsar’s new collection of poems focuses on the nuanced and multi-layered ethos of everyday life in South India. His poems reflect the angst of the new generation and offer insights into a pluralist culture of the Telugu-Urdu speaking realm of South India. Known as one of the prominent scholars of Telugu studies, Afsar has begun his literary career in the 1980s and has been a prolific writer since then. He has published extensively both in Telugu and English and recognized as one of the internationally acclaimed scholars from South Asia. This new volume of poems shows Afsar’s passion for words and images of his home language and culture.
